How to pay Traffic Fine in Nepal

After you violate any traffic rules and caught by the traffic police, you will be given a chit and the traffic police will confiscate any one of your documents (license or vehicle blue book). It is called a 24-hour chit that should be settled within 24 hours (one office opening day). If you get a traffic chit on Friday, you should settle it by the end of Sunday.

According to your wrongdoing you should deposit the amount (the traffic will tell you how much you ought to pay) in designated bank. For Kathmandu valley it is Global IME bank and please be informed that not all Global IME branches accept these traffic chits. For example, New Road branch of the Global IME will not accept this cheat, you should go to either Kantipath or Sinamangal branch in order to pay the fine and get the voucher. You should then submit the voucher in the concerned traffic police in order to get your document. In case of lane rule violation and driving while intoxicated (Ma Pa Se), you must take a traffic rule class the next day and get the document even after paying the necessary amount of money.

Going to the designated bank is quite hectic, so nowadays you can directly pay the traffic fine online via many digital wallets like Khalti, eSewa and even from Connect IPS.

For Khalti:

Go to Traffic Police Fine Payment (you can search it in the search bar by typing the exact words).

Enter your province

Enter the fiscal year

Enter the chit number

You should also select or type the point and subpoint of the traffic rule violation for example

You should mention 5(1) or ª(!) if you violate the traffic signs or signals which costs you Rs 500

You should mention 5(2) or ª(@) if you park your vehicles in 'no parking' area which will cost your Rs 500

You should mention 5(3) or ª(#) if you turn your vehicle in 'no-turning zone' or press horn in 'no horn zone, which will cost your Rs 500

The app will then show you a statement of payment after showing 'successful'

Have a screenshot of the page and go to the nearest traffic office and show the screenshot to fetch your document. The traffic police will write the name of the traffic office in the chit to which you should be contacting for your document.
