Wake up at 5 AM, ascend to Sailung in an hour to see the sunrise. You will reach KTM by 6PM provided there are no difficulties at the road.

Private Vehicle: Drive off from Kathmandu at 2PM to reach to Mude at 6PM. Stay at a hotel in Mude. Set off at 5 AM early in the morning to reach to Kalopani at 6AM. Park the vehicle at Kalopani and hike up for an hour to reach to the Sailung top. You can come down to Kalapani at 2PM have dalbhat and return KTM at 3PM. Best Season to visit Sailung
Falgun to Chaitra: When winter season is just finished there is a high chance of snowfall, probably to the mid of Falgun. During this season, it is sheer cold at the top due to the breeze and snow, so be prepared with warm clothes. In Chaitra there might be some remnants of Snow but the plus point is the hillocks are all golden due to the faded color of grasses. Also, the hike up to the hill consists of rhododendron trees with blossoming flowers in red or white.

Bhadra to Ashoj: This is another best season to visit Sailung because in this season the hillocks are all green due to the lush grass of the rains. However, due to the frequent rains, the road is not so easy for the vehicles and you have to carry an umbrella or raincoat.

Average Cost of Sailung trip
If you travel in a normal 150cc motorbike, four liters of petrol is sufficient (costs you around Rs. 500). If you stay one night along the way or in Sailung area Rs. 1500 is sufficient (without alcoholic beverages). You have to put Rs. 500 extra for tea, snacks along the way. Hence a total of Rs. 2500 is enough for a two day (going and returning) and one night stay trip. Cost is similar if you travel through the public bus but the trip may last longer because public bus takes a longer time.
