Introduction

Sudristi Eye Care is the first and only one eye clinic as of now in Kavrepalanchok district that is approved by Ministry of Health (MoH) of Bagmati Province, Government of Nepal. The clinic is located in Khasibajar, just a minute walk from Chardobato, Banepa-7. The Google plus code for Sudristi Eye Care is JGJG+339.

Sudristi, caters all eye care needs of people with state-of-the-art technology in the comprehensive eye examination process and full digital recording system. This enables clinicians to reach to the accurate diagnosis in a minimum time frame. Started and run by well experienced specialists and technicians, the clinic stands out as a service-oriented center with scientifically backed clinical practice. The findings of the eye examinations get recorded in a web application system from where the clinical data can easily be retrieved globally whenever needed and also during the follow up visits. Additionally, the client once served do not have to carry any papers or files during a follow up visit because the online recording system shows everything of the past once client’s details are entered into the system. However, a small slip of paper with concise clinical summary is provided for any referral or future need or as reports that need to be shown to other specialists.  

The legal registration of Sudristi was completed on 7 Magh 2080 (21^st January 2024) under the name “Sudristi Eye Care Optical” in the department of commerce. For 16 months, we did weekly camps and clinics in and around Kavrepalanchok district with free-of-cost medicines and onsite prescription glasses fitting. Owing to the continuing uniform quality and competitive pricing of the ophthalmic products, we could successfully position ourselves in customer’s mental availability zone for any eye care need. The ceaseless feedback and encouragement of these 16 months led us to establish clinical version of Sudristi Eye Care Optical. Yes, indeed. On 20 Jestha 2082 (16 May 2025), we successfully registered a clinic with the title, “Sudristi Eye Care”, abbreviated and more service focused.

Since the establishment of our clinical facility in downtown Banepa, we have earned public interest as a go-to place for fast and reliable eye check up and quality eye care products. The well-equipped optometry set up and competent optometrists enrich the clinic to stand as a trusted eye care center. More, this is the right place you can always remember if you yearn for any branded premium ophthalmic lens or frame. The facility also harbors an in-house pharmacy which avails all the ophthalmic drugs in a flat 10% discount.

The Opening Hours

The good thing about Sudristi is its long opening hours. Yes, it opens from 8AM in the morning to 7 PM in the evening 7 days a week. The opening hour is shortened by half an hour in the evening during winter seasons (i.e.  the clinic closes at 6:30 PM in the evening in Mangsir, Poush and Magh of every year). You read it right:  we are open in the weekends as well full hours.

Mission, Vision and Goals

Rabindra Adhikary, one of our founders and executive officer, states that “The primary mission of the eye care is to timely identify the avoidable blindness, primarily the uncorrected refractive error, in the community and intervene them wisely and scientifically. We are moved with the vision of proving eye care services with quality, affordability and celerity. While the long-term plan goes to competitive service expansion and replication; and human resources development, the short-term plan stirs around uniform optometric service delivery throughout the year.”

After a couple of decades of experiences in the field of eye care through NGOs, INGOs and private sectors, Adhikary had conceptualized to establish a clinic that fills the gap between the conventional optical shop that sells regular glasses and frames, and eye hospital that require long-hours of waiting in a queue.  

Professional Team

We have a global network of consulting specialists for cross-consultation and expert opinion regarding various clinical conditions, occasionally physically and more often virtually via video-conferencing and telemedicine. While the clinical group keeps on updating, it now consists of Dr. Nabin Raj Joshi (vision scientist in Johnson and Johnson, USA), Dr. Rajendra Gyawali (vision scientist in Macquarie University, Australia), Dr. Birendra Mahat (Founder of Sightsavers Eye Care and Opticals), Dr. Sandeep Kandel (PhD candidate in Optometry and Physiological Optics in Texas University) and Dr. Sudarshan Khanal (Public Health specialist and Founder of Shivani Eye Care).

Our Manager, Harihar Koirala, also dedicates himself to achieve the common goal of Sudristi Eye Care Family, not only as a two-decade experienced optician but also as a practically apt administrator.
