I saw the
Charlottesville video of riots in which a lady is killed after being run down
by a car. My heart shattered into pieces when I have to see a man knowingly
kills his fellow citizen with a motive nothing more other than race. This is
not good, human race is forwarding towards nihilism. We thought, in America,
racism was practically eliminated except some few sporadic incidents across the
country. Or, let’s say it was contained. True that some incidents are always
politicized in aspect of color, religion or race; but now seemingly non-ending
battle between the rising resistance against Donald Trump and pro-Trump agonists
of white supremacy ideology shows we were, all this time, in illusion. It was
slowly ripening underneath, and Donald Trump just reaps it through the streets.
America, for all of us,
has been an epitome of democracy, land of the free and the home of the brave.
When a person like Donald Trump himself ascends to be the commander-in-chief of
the most powerful country of the world, freedom has its dark side. The hate
speech that our demagogue has been offering of fire and fury, of deportation
and of anti-immigrant policy formed the very foundation of this looming
agitation. The alt-right always were incited by every inflaming speech of his.
Ku Klux Klan aka KKK are now all up in the street ready to kill, if need be,
and ready to die. Literally, not only American dream but also the democracy is
on the verge of collapse. The situation is still more aggravated by the freedom
of individuals to own firearms. Anger gets you to press the trigger quickly, and
when in crowd it heralds carnage. Just look at the face of those nationalist
protesters and the eyes of counter-demonstrators, the sign is not good: they
have anathema in its peak. For this type of racism provoking event, only single
incident is enough to shake the whole nation.
If a country like the
USA has its streets full of aggression, chants of hatred, kerfuffle and
bloodshed, we stop now to imagine our own country to be more tranquil. But,
seriously, what exactly is wrong to our otherwise docile planet that, instead
of harmonizing ourselves to explore more beyond our habitation, we are
antagonizing to kill for race or a belief? It’s a shame to fight each other
naming ourselves with meaningless tags: white supremacists, anti-Semitic,
anti-immigrant, white nationalist, and black, Nazi, Jews, immigrants.
America could not have
been this great a nation since long without the hands of people all over the
world, because it has been the land of capable and the survivors in the
competition. And in a time, when the world is expecting ever more organized
leadership by America, we are seeing that it is suffering from chaos and hatred
within its own territory. And all this has to happen right after Trump appears
in the scene as the president which might, vaguely though, indicate he is not
suited for the great holy mission of global captaincy of the earth-ship. If he can
incite the commotion, he should be able to contain it. If he is the man of all
Americans, regardless of origins, color and race, he should intervene now to
insure safety of all the concerned and strengthen American democracy so that it
will keep on being great, not only again and again but continuously.
